What exactly does LOUP do?+
LOUP makes voice calls and sends voice messages to a contact list that parents control from a companion app. That's the whole feature list, on purpose. There's no screen to scroll — the e-ink strip on the front only shows contact names, the time, and battery.
Isn't the front panel a screen?+
It's an e-ink strip — the same tech as a Kindle. It doesn't glow, doesn't play video, doesn't run apps, and can't show anything except names, time, and battery. There's nothing to stare at. Kids point, scroll the side dial, and talk.
What ages is LOUP for?+
LOUP is designed for kids 6–16. Younger kids use it as their first phone; older kids use it as a smartphone alternative that keeps them reachable without pulling them into feeds.
Can I customize it?+
Yes — the anodized aluminum back plate snaps off without tools. Choose patterns, sports designs, or print your own photo plate for $24.

Is there a monthly fee?+
LOUP-to-LOUP calling is free forever, no plan needed. If you want your kid to call real phone numbers (your smartphone, grandma's landline), that's $10/month, cancel anytime.
How do parents control the contact list?+
From the free LOUP parent app (iOS and Android). Add, remove, and approve contacts in seconds. Your kid's device updates instantly over Wi-Fi or its built-in connection. Nobody outside the approved list can call in or be called.
Does LOUP work away from home Wi-Fi?+
LOUP connects over Wi-Fi — at home, school, or anywhere you trust. There's no SIM card and no cellular bill. LOUP-to-LOUP calling works wherever both devices have Wi-Fi. Add the $10/month plan if you want your kid to reach real phone numbers outside Wi-Fi.

30 days, no questions, free return shipping. If LOUP isn't right for your family, send it back for a full refund.
What does the warranty cover?+
Every LOUP has a 2-year warranty covering defects and everyday-kid accidents like drops. If it breaks doing normal kid things, we replace it.
Safety & Privacy
Does LOUP track my kid's location?+
LOUP includes optional location check-in that parents can turn on or off. There is no always-on tracking, no data sold to anyone, ever. Voice messages are end-to-end encrypted.
Can strangers contact my kid?+
No. Calls only connect to and from the parent-approved list. There is no number to text, no username to find, no way in from outside.
